Somewhere there's a drunk
spending an hour of my wages
to give himself cancer
and cirrhosis of the liver;
while his son is denied a piece of candy.
If only he'd die;
that kid would have a chance
at the life he deserves.
Then again,
if the drunk had cancer
he'd need treatment.
Which would also be
removed from my pocket.
Universal healthcare works well;
it keeps idle people alive
while the rest are worked to death.
Here's to the Taxman;
why don't you buy the kid some candy?

No one I think is in my tree
It has some of the wit (insofar that some of the remarks "wake you up.") you would expect to see in the work of a very effective journalist.
The way it is presented seems almost to be a very convincing argument, and yet letting off aggression (a venting poem after a fashion) and taking a blow at the taxman.
All and all, I definitely like it.

She belongs to the moon and the stars
Her eyes covered by them
And yet she sees the world so clearly
If never a last resort
Excellent. I love the view, despite its negativity.
